What rock have I been hiding under? I had no clue that people built AK's. This is something I might be interested in, but will have to wait until next time.

Get the G kit with the barrel, it will be easier to build.

do you mean this one? if so i'm not fond at all of the handle on the front

not sure what this means though:

You can change the hand guards on the G kit. The Egyptian kits , those you have to go to the guy's house and build them there with his tools.

well he said he would ship the egyptian kit but never replied to my email. i might just end up getting the other kit with the handle.. as you said i could always swap it out in the future if i really didn't like it

Any furniture will fit except the Chinese and Yugo stuff. I would get the G kit because it will be easier to build and there will be no headspace issues.

Nodak Spud ships quickly as does Curtis over at ak-builder.com if you want a flat. NDS shipped my receiver on Friday (ordered late Thursday afternoon by phone) and it was delivered yesterday in BR (Wednesday). So if you order today you would still have it by the party. You just need to have your transfer FFL on file (can be faxed) with NDS.

That's just the receiver. Obviously you need a parts kit/barrel and a rivet set too. I recommend ak-builder rivet sets.

Harder than it sounds. I pay #1bambam $40 to do that and it includes pressing the barrel out and putting it back in after riveting. He's in your area so consider taking it to him for that work before the build party.
