    Why would this year be any different?

    Gus do you not think this year is different? The emotional spike of the recent shooting is at peek. Considering how our Goverment seems to react to their emotions do you not think it's different than Jan. 2011? or Jan. 2010? I think so.

    The wording of it is very disturbing though.

    • Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
    • Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment
    • Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes and
    • Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons

    • Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
      [*]Background check of owner and any transferee;
      [*]Type and serial number of the firearm;
      [*]Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
      [*]Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
    • Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

    Because she is such an extremist, this will likely work in our favor. She will probably go for the gun control equivalent to The Hail Mary play- and will find out that not everyone in DC feels as comfortable will their job security as herself.

    STILL- Let your reps know how you feel. Be respectful- but firm.

    Sure, but Feinstien introducing a new gun control bill bill is nothing new. I doubt hers will get very far as written.

    This right here. The best thing for us as Americans and gun owners is if she goes for the full assault on guns. Gun control and gun rights laws are way easier in baby step increments. She might get a ban on regular capacity magazines, or background checks on private sales, she might even get a '94 type gun ban but I don't think support for a full NFA type law is there.

    Holy crap she is going for a hail marry. What scares me, in the spirit of compromise she will give up all the new stuff and we end up with the bill she has been introducing every year for 8 years now. The 100% socialist party does it all the time, and the 98% socialist party goes along with it.

    I just realized something:

    Feinstein has not changed her efforts at all, has made her bill worse, and continues on. All while Obama and Biden are looking into what they can do as well... seemingly not together with Feinstein but in parallel... that seems to strongly indicate executive branch action, not legislation, on Biden's part. That's scary.

    Diane Feinstein's upcoming bill from her Senate website

    Pretty comprehensive. I know it is just discussion at this point but should serve as a concern - it does to me.

    Following is a summary of the 2013 legislation:

    Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
    120 specifically-named firearms
    Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic
    Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds
    Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
    Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test
    Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test
    Banning firearms with *thumbhole stocks* and *bullet buttons* to address attempts to *work around* prior bans
    Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
    Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
    Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment
    Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes and
    Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons
    Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
    Background check of owner and any transferee;
    Type and serial number of the firearm;
    Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
    Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
    Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

    It is now time that all of us contact our Congressmen and Senators and let them know in very specific terms that they had better protect the Second Amendment, because the Socialists (the Democrat Party is dead) are fired up and determined to disarm us.

    I seriously hate this woman.

    The damn ATF takes 6 months to handle the NFA items there are now. Adding 100-150 million more all at once?

    It's like she's literally retarded.

    I guess if you throw enough **** at the wall, eventually some of it will stick.

    Interesting that it would ban handguns with military characteristics. What does that even mean?

    To have to register already owned items that are banned is insane. I'm guessing you would have to go through the same trouble to keep your AR that you go through to register a suppressor.

    I'm guessing this bill will die in the house if it even passes the Senate. It sure does show the Libs true colors.

    Having to register almost everything I own with the ATF worries me.

    Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:

    Background check of owner and any transferee;
    Type and serial number of the firearm;
    Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;

    I guess they're going for a hole in one. All or nothing. After reading that, seems like this bill will make or break the 2nd amendment.

    We all know what she'd LIKE to do. She views us as criminals without the benefit of the doubt. Simple as that. Now, why do you think this is? I think we've already been told the answer to that- by a very wise group of men a very long time ago....

    While I don't think she will have the support she needs to pass all of this (my opinion), we had all best do everything we can to let our representatives know this foolishness is not our idea of a free society.

    I do believe that we will be demonized by those on the other side the likes of which we've never seen- especially through the use of the media. We're already getting a pretty good taste of that. It's going to be worse. So get ready for that.

    Stay strong; we will make it through all of this nonsense.

    She doesn't go this extreme every year. I think the strategy is go for registration, and in the spirit of compromise they get something close to what they wanted last year. What, it took 4 years to disarm England, less than a month to outlaw Semi Autos in Australia.
