Yes if this proposal goes through, from speculation on other pages this sets the precedent for a backdoor ammunition ban. With the epa pushing for a ban on lead projectiles and copper prices going up. This ban on steel tipped ammunition will start a downhill spiral for future bans.

Who knows how it will play out. I've had enough conspiracy theories for one day. I emailed my representative and senators. Time to let the process work.

That's my best guess as to why now, but by their own definitions this should've happened a long time ago. AR/.223 pistols have been around for a long long time.

How about we get rid of ar pistols and keep the ammo? I bet there are more people with ar-15 rifles and carbines than people with ar pistols.

The whole, huge, rifle caliber firing pistol craze is dumb.

I must be the only AR-15 owner who doesn't care for M855. I can't shoot it at most indoor ranges because of the penetrator tip, and when I'm outdoors, I'd rather shoot 68 to 75 grain match ammo anyway. Oh well, it looks like I'll get to take stock in what I do have on hand and list it for sale.
