It’s great advice. Give it a go and let us know how it works out for you.

I hope you got legal counsel prior to posting.... it’s scary on these forums.

And again, you continue to prove my point that you are incapable of reading. Please point to where I speak in absolutes. Where did I say “things don’t happen”.
So you concede that $hit happens yet you advise to take a chance when someone has no legal obligation to do so….

Please, prove my statements about Staff and certain users causing declining interest correct.

It surely benefits the community for Staff to regularly insult users, and to insinuate that users may have unsavory lifestyles, rather than assuming that their users are decent, and loving, gun owners that want to engage in community and buy/sell/trade guns with people who have like interests.

So that's where we're at I guess. It's not uncommon for people to attack the messenger rather than the message.

Attorneys probably say that, just as every other object in the universe subscribe to.

    The Path of Least Resistance.

It’s easier to defend someone if the attorney is able to write the narrative and not have to justify what their client stated.

Sure, LE would love if everyone admitted to their crimes. But if there was no crime, there’s no harm in talking to LE.

For the most part, these are members of your community just trying to honestly, do good. Believe it or not. There’s no mass agenda to put everyone in prison.

I’ve knocked on plenty of doors to ask if anyone has seen a missing child or elderly person. Given death notifications. Or trying to find a family member of someone involved in an accident. Not every knock has some malice intent.

Ok, so what you’re saying is, attorneys just say that to make their job easier? Hmmmm……

Again, back to shots fired and 5 cops showing up to my door. Let’s explore some very real possibilities:
    1. I heard the shots and screw you, I ain’t opening my door.
    Do I need to explain?
    2. WTF are all these menacing looking people doing banging on my door and standing here looking at me? Why would this many cops want me to open my door? Screw that, this looks like trouble.
If it were one or two at my door, I would be more inclined to believe your opinion. Showing up like they did per this account, I’m in disbelief that they expected the man to open the door. I don’t think cops are so naive as to be ignorant of an intimidating presence. Opening the door for police is by default inviting cops into your home because we all know that once you open the door you cannot close the door until a cop and his boot decides you can. I don’t expect you to agree but I’ll be glad to post some videos for you.

Btw, for most reasonable and intelligent people, knowing of a single for instance of something being hazardous is enough for them to make up their mind or make informed decisions about whatever action or risk they’re willing to take. The ones who ignore knowledge, warnings, good advice(!) etc, are sometimes referred to as Darwin Award winners.

Being sued does not lead to an investigation, or people looking into the police officers behavior? hmm...very interesting.

Investigations are less common that lawsuits?

"It's not uncommon", you didn't give a numerical number. I tried to give you some kind of relevant number.

What percent of law enforcement officers get sued?

It's a lot. And here's an example of why. A unit with 2 officers have the occasion to run the plate of a truck that is driving erratically. The truck comes back as stolen. They attempt to stop the truck but the truck drives off. The officers initiate a pursuit (because they love those things). The truck finally stops on the other side of town. They get the guy out of the truck, put him in handcuffs, double lock the handcuffs after checking for proper fit, and place him in the back of the police car. Two more units are there as well, one with another officer and one with a sergeant. The truck was stolen the previous day and they call the detective who handled the initial theft. He arrives on scene then goes to the location of the theft, a hotel, to get a picture of the thief from the surveillance system. He goes back to the scene and learns the guy they stopped was the same guy, still wearing the same clothes, as the person in the surveillance video. They book the guy for theft and possession of a stolen vehicle. While at lockup, he tells the sheriffs the officers beat him up. They put the guy in touch with someone and a federal civil rights violation lawsuit is filed. The two initial officers, the additional officer, the sergeant, and the detective are all listed, even though they were not all at the scene at the time the alleged beat down took place.

So that one incident lead to 5 people getting sued. The incident may have been looked into but there was no big investigation. The most that happened was the officers talking to the city attorney. So what happened to the officers? Was justice served? No, not really. The detective that was called to the scene was familiar with the thief. On the night before the truck was stolen, the thief had called the police and claimed he had been robbed. The detective who responded to that call was the same who responded to the later call and was listed in the lawsuit. And, coincidentally, the injuries the guy claimed to have sustained in the beat down by police were the same injuries the guy claimed when he said he was robbed. When all this was brought up, the guy agreed to a settlement with the city with the caveat that he basically withdraw his complaint. The city settled for less money than it would have cost to fight the allegations. So the guy filed a false claim and, rather than get in trouble for filing a false report, he got paid. Not exactly deterring other frivolous lawsuits.

Now you have another buddy, Hi Austin, here to defend you and help you pile on insults and troll people.

This is why Bayou Shooter has gotten so successful over the years, the great unbiased attitude of the staff and members that contribute to so much positive and thoughtful conversation

It can't be that bad if it hasn't run you off.

Jesus, we understand you are afraid of your own shadow. You can stop trying to rationalize it.

Again with the insults. You’re really starting to look like a libtard. That’s how they roll. That’s how you troll. Spout a bunch of BS then throw out some insults.
For what it’s worth, I don’t think anyone here would actually follow your ill advice. So no harm, no foul.

From experience, I’ve had way more people open the door than not open the door. Most who didn’t were criminals

That’s great. I bet you have more folks readily open the door when it’s not 5 of you outside.
