Any of yall ever been thru a hurricane?!
My first hurricane was Betsy, in '64. That one was worse than Katrina, but the aftermath wasn't anything like Katrina because nobody evacuated and everyone worked together.

I don't evacuate. I love watch them through the storm door. I close the front door at a Cat 3 or greater.

Fill you bathtub with water. You can use it to flush the toilet if you lose water pressure.

Buy plenty of bottled water to cook with and drink.

I wouldn't worry about boarding up windows for a Cat I or II.

Be prepared to be without power for a few days. If you don't have a generator and lots of gas cans, consider going to the store if you can afford to.

Put an ax in your attic. Put an ax in your attic. Put an ax in your attic.
People in Betsy and Katrina drowned in their attics because they were trapped.

Help your neighbors. Check on elderly neighbors.

I did all my prep on Sunday. I enjoyed watching people scramble yesterday and today to try to get everything done. Granted I stay prepared for stuff like this year round so all I had to do was fill up the vehicles, top off the gas cans, and although I didn’t need it make a trip to the grocery to buy a few extra cases of bottled water and dry food.

I've got four days of fuel on hand. A deep freeze full of food. Two weeks worth of cat food. Plenty of bottled water.

Things are picked up outside, and we're working on getting laundry done.

Later on, I'll get one of the generators out, fire it up to test run it. (They've all been run already this season). I'll fill it with fuel, and cover it. That way I can access power during the storm.

Being a customer of Entergy, I expect to lose power, even though the storm will pass to my West.

Same here. In Hammond all it has to do is rain hard/wind blow and the power goes out. Wasn't like this in Laplace, not even close. In my first year up here the power went out 6 times in one year. I get a text from Entergy every outage. Has to be all the large older trees in Hammond vs Laplace.
