As a police officer, I've had to respond to untold hundreds of useless calls that we should have been able to ignore, but you get sent anyway, and you politely explain why you're there, apologize if it's bullsh!t, and move on. In the case of the original video posted in this thread, the citizen just didn't appear to have either the knowledge to know he could tell them to pound sand, or the intestinal fortitude to do so. The contact lasted precisely as long, and went only as far, as he allowed it. We can lament his lack of knowledge or balls, and we can lament the improperly focused agenda driving the ATF, but until that video shows him refusing them and they then proceed to force him, maybe we shouldn't broad-brush every agent that works for the ATF.

I understand where you’re coming from, but do you think the agent is not breaking or skirting any laws by collecting information on gun purchases and visiting the home in the first place? I believe the ATF created their own loophole by making a rule that buying more than one gun in a day gives them the right to break the law… man this **** is just a tad convoluted to say the least.
I will continue to see the ATF in the same light as I have for the majority of my life because I’m one to err on the side of caution.
Either that or let’s be real, they are all about infringement and no amount of denial will change my mind. Every ATF agent serves the ATF. End of story. Show me an ATF hero to the people and change my mind.

He really should have let the whole thing die down when it was confirmed he did not pose for a pic at Waco…supposedly.

I’ve never had he ATF knock on my door. I imagine I’d be polite and ask for a warrant and if they produced none I’d send them on their way. Ya just never know exactly how these things will go even if you plan ahead. The last government employee that came to my house was a census worker who challenged my entry on that extra census that Obammy tried to slip in on us. Poor woman thought I was suppose to write more than just the number of occupants in my home. She was a confused little person. Caught me mowing the grass and just wouldn’t listen to reason. That big ZTR shoots a lot of gravel when it runs over the end of my drive. Her car got pelted pretty good. I didn’t plan ahead for that one but I guess it turned out ok.

I had an FFL in 1980 and the rule was if you bought multiple guns, two or more, I had to notify the then BATF. This isn't something new, the government is just getting more into investigating multiples with all the shootings recently. It has always been there

I don't recall hearing about people getting random visits from federal agents demanding to see their legally purchased items.

I'm not sure what me knowing anyone would have to do with this. I have already stated I wasn't a popular guy, I wasn't lying.
That said, I can't imagine that this is a unicorn scenario and I would wager that most of these contacts go unreported to the public. If it happens just once, and is deemed acceptable then it will happen twice for certain.

Given a road with complaints about speeding and you will see increased LE. Given the uproar about guns, and maybe, and I mean maybe, some areas of the country have been found to have increased straw purchases and you will see increased LE. They just want to assure themselves that you are not a straw purchaser. If you are get ready to go the jail.

I was trying to help you out. The reason you didn’t hear about it in the 80’s is because there wasn’t an internet or social media. It’s not a conspiracy because you hear about it now, it’s just easy to throw a video up for everyone to see. With that being said, you still don’t see 100’s of videos a day of this. Notice most on here are telling you the same thing, even FFL holders.

I wouldn't imagine the oil filter suppressor would be so popular and useful that it would warrant that much attention. Just seems like it would hinder the weapon more than help.
But they did snipe a man's wife and child over a short barrel, so, I guess it's to be expected.

To be clear, I'm not saying that they did not have the multi gun reporting already in place. All I'm saying is that for all these years that it has been in place, I don't recall seeing, hearing, or reading about warrantless verification visits.

The uproar you speak about is fabricated. I don't care if another person breaks the law. Find another way to catch them without harassing innocent people in the process.

Are you saying that the police should determine who is innocent and who is guilty before they conduct an investigation so they know who to talk to as part of that investigation?

I'm saying that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Buying multiple guns is not illegal and therefore should not be grounds for warrantless contacts, searches, or seizures.
