I vote CZ if our votes mean anything. If you are looking to spend Hk p30 money go with the CZ Shadow. If not I would go with an cz85 or sp01.

I'm gonna add another +1 for the Shadow, although I suggested the STI first and still hold it at the top for a "range toy".

If you get it from Angus or Mink or basically whoever, I'd have them run the stones on the trigger and/or hit you with some springs as well. If I ever in a million years switch Production pistol platforms again, that's definitely the route I"m going-- those things are sweet to shoot.

I really need to get a hand on an STI to feel one locally. It's one of the harder 1911's to find in stock.

If you haven't handled a CZ75B or one of its brothers I would recommend doing so. For me they just "feel" correct in my hand and the grip angle is best for me also. I like them so much I've gotten rid of some great pistols (Walthers and SAs) to expand my little CZ collection and I've shot the full size and compacts. It may not be right for you in the end but don't discount it till you try one. Lots of folks like me love them. Sicilian Secrets has a nice one listed here with extras.

I actually held on the other day. While it felt great in my hand and I know they are great guns, it's just not what I am looking for.

I thought the xxxx felt amazing in my hand and out of all the ones I was holding today, it felt the best.

THis is the answer to your question. There are many nice options out there. The hard part is finding friends with different pistol
combinations you can shoot a few rounds through to get that amazing grip feeling. :draw:

You are correct. Holding one and shooting one can be two different things also, but I think comfort in your hand is one of the best indicators of how you will like a gun.

I have a S&W 469 and a had a camp carbine. I traded the carbine for an upper but still miss my carbine. Great gun. Lots of fun trying to hit the 100 yard targets with it with irons! Keltec has a version that takes the same mags also.
