I think the founding fathers were well aware of islam and other religions of course, and the brilliance of separation of church and state is that it benefits both the government and religion. I do not think there has been any more malice in islam beliefs than christian beliefs and individuals have done horrible acts in the name of both. I see them as equal. Tools to manipulate large groups of people into actions they otherwise might not do. The founding fathers got it right, and the President addressed it correctly. Let them build a mosque where they want.

The brilliance of separation of church and state is that it doesn't exist in any legal document written by the founding fathers, but it is touted as the law of the land.

Yes, at one time Christianity was about on par with Islam in committing religious atrocities. They are not equal in that regard today. If you look at it closely you will see where one religions followers and dogma have evolved and the other has not.

As far as manipulating large groups of people, this happens outside of religion also, and to a far more horrific degree. Russia and Germany before and after WWII come to mind.

Islam is not altogether a religion, but rather operates under the guise of being one. It is a model form of governance, with much similarity to socialism. As such, there are no separation of church and state issues here for the advocates of the Ground Zero mosque to hide behind. This mosque, if built, will symbolize to all Muslims that the U.S. is a beaten nation which has acquiesced to being occupied. The jihad proclaimed by Osama Ben Laden on the U.S. can chalk up a great victory if this mosque rises at Ground Zero.

For the opening ceremonies, back a giant cattle trailer filled with feral hogs up to the front door, and release.

i'm not surprised; this kills two birds with one stone, it gives him a place to worship and slap America across the face at the same time!

    Islam Is Evil.

That being said, I do not think that the government should be telling any religion where they can or can not build or worship. All religions are welcome to practice, whether that be Christianity, Islam, Hindu, etc.

Like it was said earlier, this site will become a magnet for crazies.

Let's pretend for a moment that the crazies are deer, and the FBI are deer hunters.

I'd submit to the hunters this will make a great place to set up a stand....;)

If Obama truly meant everything he says regarding this new mosque, he could just as easily do things to support/build up the mosque that's been there since 1970.

But that wouldn't start a firestorm of controversy. That would be too peaceful.

As long as they are flanked by a jewish gay bar, BBQ joint and strip club, its good to go.

Gay bar may open next to Ground Zero mosque

Conservative Fox News host Greg Gutfeld has recently announced that he is planning on opening a gay bar two blocks from Ground Zero in New York City. That would put it right next door to the planned Cordoba Mosque.

Gutfeld hosts the Fox News show “Red Eye” and is known as being a satirist. But this time, he claims to be serious. He has apparently looked into the space and has already obtained investors.

They should call the gay bar "Porky's" and have it covered in lots of big neon signs featuring our favorite cartoon oinker, dressed in the most flamingly gay apparel possible. Blinking at 300 lumens toward the terrorist training center mosque, 24 hours a day. Some of the neon pigs should wear those tennis shoes that the Muzzies got all panty-twisted about years ago when they claimed the logo on them resembled Arabic writing for Allah.

Some big neon representations of the infamous "bomb-turban Mohammed" cartoon would accent it nicely too.

F*CK this so-called "religion." They are our sworn enemy, and increasingly I am coming to believe that none of them can be trusted. Same as DemocRATS.

Wow- that should stop them from hating us!

    What a tool.

They don't hate "us" they hate the past 10 administration's foreign policy. The irony of him speaking like a lamb yet following a dragon's foreign policy is, well, interesting, no? It aint gonna work and will have disasterous consequences for we the people.

Uh,........yeah they do. All Westerners alike.

Until the Muslim religion, if you want to call it that, takes responsibility for the actions of their people, stops using the pulpit to promote hatred towards non-muslims, and shows through their actions that they are a peace loving religion, I will consider ALL of them as my enemy, as I cannot tell the difference in the good ones and the evil ones.

I do not trust anyone of Arab decent. Every Muslim terrorist that had lived in the US had neighbors that vouched for them as model citizens, until their day came to do their part. My thought process tells me that any Muslim that is a good citizen today, may be the next suicide bomber tomorrow. I'm not going to accept any Arab as an American, until I see them stand up for American values, American culture, and American soverignty, and publicly denounce the dispicable actions of their culture.

And I don't see them doing that any time soon.

Our day will come, we need to throw out the liberals, replace them with true constitutionalists, and get to a liberaterian form of govt before we are nothing more than France, Italy, Germany, England, etc.; succumbing to the Musilms, and losing everything so many hundreds of thousands of men have given their life fighting for. Mark my words, in ten years the Muslims will rule all of Europe, and the US, if we don't face reality today.

    rant over.

They hate us because we are not "believers". Islam calls on them to convert or kill all non-believers. It has nothing to do with foreign policy. Even if we had not assisted in helping form Israel, they would still hate us.

Substantial indirect evidence exists that Barak Obama is a Muslim. An unconfirmed report, completely ignored by the mainstream media, has Obama telling a high Jordanian official in Egypt last year that he, Obama, is indeed a Muslim. If true, his position on the Ground Zero Mosque is made easier to understand, but even harder to accept. At the very least, Obama would be a Muslim sympathizer. At worst, a traitor now guilty of treason for the second time while in office.
