Mike, keep in mind that no holster system is a substitute for proper weapon retention habits. You should always keep you weapon on the opposite side of where people are located. Be prepared to pivot your body so that your firearm to out of reach to others. For example, when walking down an isle it is good to keep your weapon toward the isle or wall and not close to a person. When your firearm comes close to a person, be sure to cover it with your arm and elbow. When using a water fountain, be sure to cover your firearm with your elbow. Use your week hand to do tasks more while protecting your handgun.
Remember that open carry requires greater awareness than concealed carry. You are not carrying a flashlight or knife, so you will attract attention.

Sounds like a lot of work to just carry a gun.

+1 yeah I don't think this is really necessary.

If you're in a hairy situation then sure, but the grandma on aisle three is not going to try to take your pistol out of your holster, and even if she does try, you shouldn't have much trouble fighting her off.

Most police officers who are shot in the line of duty are shot with their own handgun. Good weapon retention saves lives. It is not a matter of work. It is a matter of having good habits instead of bad habits. Any academy trained officer knows that.

Getting back the OP's first post... I'm assuming the robberies you are referring to are the ones around the apartment complexes. There have been several women jumped by someone coming out of the bushes (or so I've heard). Most important thing is being aware of your surroundings, followed closely by not looking like a target.
Carrying a gun underage is going to make you a target for confrontations with local police. You will probably end up face down on the pavement or on a patrol car if you OC. Is it worth the hassle? Maybe a tazer is a better option for now? Actually, OCing to/from your car but not every time you walk into walmart or the grocery might be a better option...

Just an observation (and not a suggestion to the OP!)... if we were talking about businesses that forbid weapons there would be a half dozen posts stating 'concealed means concealed' but no one ever suggests this to underage individuals. Just odd that some feel its ok to break one law in the interest of safety but not another....
